Next Day Delivery is a game concept I initially created as an entry to BAFTA Young Game Designers 2018, but scrapped. In 2020, I came back to the idea and developed its design with my game design mentor, Sean Oxspring. In 2021 and 2022, I worked on a playable protoype, with all design, programming and art done by myself. It was built in GameMaker Studio 2, which I had never used prior to this.

The idea was to take my favourite elements from various 2D platformers - sprawling environments, lush animation, the opportunity to build up speed and express oneself through movement - and combine them into one game.
Below is a mock pitch presentation, which I've adapted from a full game design document. Both are still a work in progress.

The presentation goes through three pillars of the game.

Pillar 1: the parkour-inspired moveset.

An initial version of the map. Designed in a Metroidvania style, with a hub and spoke structure. The path in orange represents the directions in which the player can progress starting at Surface - Central. Progress is limited by available gadgets.

Tia, the courier, and player character. Perpetually "over it".

Side characters, including Medusa (a hair and beauty influencer in this world), Anansi and Hermes.
