A university project, modeled after the PeckhamPlex cinema in South-East London. A small proof of concept showing the main lobby, cinema screen, and 'Sandy Sci-Fi' environments. The full concept is a film-based 3D platformer and character action game. Enemies begin pouring out of the screens, and the main character has to enter the world of each film to stop them. This prototype was made in the space of a few weeks. I used this as an opportunity to learn about Unity's new Input system, using blend trees, and animating objects within Unity.
In the main lobby of the cinema. Collectibles are dotted around.
Inside a cinema screen. Jumping into the screen leads to the level, Mario 64-style.
Inside world 1, aka 'Sandy Sci-Fi', accessed by jumping into the screen in screening room 1. Overlaid UI elements create the illusion of filmic black bars and a dusty camera filter.
The floorplan for the main cinema area, based roughly on the real cinema's layout.
Sketches of the level layout for world 1, Sandy Sci-Fi. The aim was to create a stop-and-start structure with stretches of platforming, and then areas to battle groups of enemies. On the left is the lower level of the stage, and on the right is the upper level - verticality was an important component.
